From Tree Climber to Tech Founder
When I was a kid, I wanted to fly helicopters. I didn’t get the eyesight. So I pivoted. Hard.
By 16, I was already working outdoors. No desk. No tie. Just grit, rain, and sawdust. I built a 6-figure tree surgery business before most people finish uni.
But it wasn’t enough. I wanted scale.
In 2012, I moved to the Highlands and found drones. That changed everything.
Within 12 months I launched ROAVR Group and started flying missions across the UK. Oil, wind, energy, infrastructure, we got in, got the data, got out. Fast.
People took notice. Regulators. Developers. Government. I worked with the CAA, DfT, and even helped shape drone policy across Europe with ARPAS-UK.
Then offshore wind blew up. I built i-ROAVR, our own tech to stop asset loss before it happens. First used at Seagreen. Then Moray West. Next? Everywhere.
Somewhere along the way, I wrote Giga What? It hit #1 in 74 countries. Turns out people like practical advice more than PowerPoint slides.
These days, I coach founders who are stuck scaling the hard way. They’ve got teams, traction, maybe even 7-figure turnover, but they’re still in the weeds. I help them build businesses that run without them. I am the CRO (Chief Reminding Officer) for ROAVR Group but my senior team run that ship.
If you want to work with me, you’ve got two options:
Get coached (limited spots)
Book me to speak (corporate events only, no “vision boards”)
This isn’t about hype. It’s about execution.
Let’s get to work.
